[CJ OliveNetworks, Thu. Dec. 19, 2019] CJ OliveNetworks (CEO, Lee Kyung-bae) will showcase media technologies at SEOUL LIGHT held at DDP during the year-end period.

The company participated in a competitive tender for a business operator for developing DDP media lighting content, which was held by Seoul City and Seoul Design Foundation. It has become the final operator in the technology area for content development and the establishment and operation of the device/equipment system.

CJ OliveNetworks has been recognized for its reliable capacity, thanks to its knowledge of the development and operation of convergent broadcasting communication content, including building a facade at CJ ENM Sangam Center and developing a broadcasting/audio AV system. It will unveil the high-end technology with the largest-scale curved surface facade media art in Korea (223 m wide and up to 54 m high).

Media lighting is a type of media art that delivers images, lights, and music through a beam projector onto the exterior walls, which is content convergence of creativity and technology. Seoul carries out the DDP Future Content Creation Project for the first time this year to strengthen Dongdaemun’s position as a tourist attraction.

Refik Anadol, a media artist from Turkey, has produced the content in media art of SEOUL LIGHT, featuring the past, present, and future of Seoul and DDP. CJ OliveNetworks will be responsible for projection mapping that adds technology to the content, application of the realistic sound (3D sound) technology, building video and audio systems, and event operations.

For this event, CJ OliveNetworks prepared 28 projectors, 22 sets of sound equipment, including speakers and woofers, and 14 sets of media servers. The realistic sound effect system has been applied as well.

“We’ve been actively engaging in realistic media projects, such as media art and facade. It’s going to be a great opportunity to introduce our outstanding technology,” said Yun Mijeong, the director of E&M IT Service at CJ OliveNetworks. “This winter, we’ll show people realistic music, lights, and images in a way that can help DDP become a world-class tourist attraction, and encourage citizens to have a refreshing experience.”

SEOUL LIGHT will be on display from December 20 to January 3, for 16 min for every hour between 7:00 and 10:00 p.m. Visitors can enjoy the show at the exterior walls of DDP and Eoullim Square for free. On December 24 and 25, participatory videos with Christmas themes will be played; and on December 31, New Year’s Eve and New Year videos.
