CJ OliveNetworks Supports Displaced North Korean Adolescents

On the 7th, CJ OliveNetworks (CEO Kyung-bae Lee, Min-ho Hur) has donated KRW 25 million to Yeomyung School, an alternative school for displaced adolescents from North Korea.
This sponsorship, carried out through the Community Chest of Korea, was focused on improving the quality of life and self-esteem of the students asmembers of the society.
A group of cadres from CJ OliveNetworks, including CEO Kyung-bae Lee, came together to provide volunteer service during mealtime and pass on the grant tothe school.
The grant will be used in providing meal services and cultural activitiesfor the students of the Yeomyung School. Specific programs that will be funded by the grant include the “Food Table Community” program, where students come together twice a month to cook and share their own lunch, and the “We Can Help,Too” program, where students will visit disabled or elderly care centers twice ayear and volunteer.
Students will also benefit from snacks and meals provided on the “Yeomyung Day”event, an annual festival of talents including musicals, orchestra, choir, and taekwondo performances, as well as free admission to cultural events provided by CJ group.
CEO Kyung-bae Lee of CJ OliveNetworks commented, “We hope to help the displaced students achieve happiness and learn the value of sharing with their surroundings. CJ OliveNetworks will continue to stand true to our CSR projectsnot only in Yeomyung School but in other areas as well, and help create new culture and value rather than simple monetary offers.”
CJ OliveNetworks has carried out the volunteering program for 22 years since 1995, bringing much-needed aid to North Korean refugees, disabled,multicultural homes, single mothers, and low-income families. At least 80% ofthe cadre each year visits community centers in Gangnam or Incheon or Yeomyung School to provide volunteer services in addition to voluntary fund-raising each month.
