CJ OliveNetworks announced on the 16th of December that it will participate in the construction of the "Jangseong Fine Data Center."

As the first data center in South Jeolla Province, the Jangseong Fine Data Center is a project valued at 395.9 billion KRW, featuring a 26MW capacity in the Cheomdan 3 District, Nam-myeon, Jangseong-gun. This is the first private-led project following the government’s announcement of the "Policy to Alleviate Data Center Concentration in the Seoul Metropolitan Area." It is expected to serve as a hub for digital innovation and a critical infrastructure driving AI industry growth in South Jeolla Province.

With this data center to be built, South Jeolla Province plans to establish an AI innovation ecosystem that connects R&D, education, and startups through initiatives such as the "Data Center Thermal Management Technology Development and Demonstration Project" and the "Region-led AI Transformation Project."

CJ OliveNetworks will participate in the MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) portion of the project to ensure the successful implementation of the Jangseong Fine Data Center. MEP is the critical components in data center construction, ensuring that servers and IT equipment operate stably 24/7.

GPUs and TPUs used for AI training and inference consume more than five times the power and generate significantly more heat than traditional CPU-based servers. Consequently, building an AI data center requires a higher level of precision, complexity, and integration than standard facilities. CJ OliveNetworks plans to guarantee the stability of high-performance AI computing by integrating its advanced skills from constructing and operating the Songdo Data Center with its EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) capabilities in the manufacturing and logistics sectors.

In addition, the company will actively cooperate in nurturing local AX talent in fields such as AI, Big Data, and Cloud. CJ OliveNetworks will work with local hub universities and public institutions to produce specialized professionals and support their employment in related industries.

Meanwhile, South Jeolla Province held a ceremony for the "Jangseong Fine Data Center" on December 15th, officially beginning construction. The goal is to complete construction and commence operations by 2028.
