- CJ OliveNetworks wins a VSPN Arena project, an e-sports stadium by VSPN Korea

- Recognition for differentiated information technology (IT) and extensive knowledge of broadcast system development and operation 

- A convergent facility equipped with advanced technologies for the broadcasting transmission system, to open in April 

[CJ OliveNetworks = Wed, Apr 1, 2020] CJ OliveNetworks (CEO, Cha In-hyok), recognized for its information technology (IT) in the digital media field, has won a construction project for the VSPN Arena (tentative name), a stadium devoted to e-sports, by VSPN Korea (President, Kim Gi-ho). 

VSPN is an e-sports total solution provider invested by Tencent. Founded in 2018, VSPN Korea provides content about eSports, entertainment, and on-air promotions (OAP). 

CJ OliveNetworks has accumulated extensive knowledge in broadcast development and operation after working for the Catholic Peace Broadcasting Corporation (CPBC), Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) UHD Studio, and K Shopping Broadcasting Center. In particular, Seoul OGN e-sports Stadium, opened in 2016, received high praise as it was recognized for the company’s competitive edge and regarded as a successful construction case.

CJ OliveNetworks will transform the 1652 m² multilayer facility into a new level of e-sports stadium with a 662 m² main stage, where three groups of two can play games at the same time; a multilanguage commentary box; and 300 seating capacity. 

This e-sports environment will give spectators an enjoyable experience through its giant electronic scoreboard and cutting-edge sound and light system. In addition, it is equipped with a multichannel streaming solution, an environment suitable for channels, such as broadcasting companies or over-the-top (OTT) services. 

CJ OliveNetworks will construct the VSPN Arena using its accumulated techniques and knowledge on technologies, such as UHD/HD broadcasting, visual media production, and broadcasting services technology, to respond to changes in the future of broadcasting. Furthermore, it will keep expanding businesses into international digital media markets. 

“The VSPN Arena, represented first in Korea, is a cultural complex where we create and distribute diverse content, such as eSports, showcases, and entertainment talk shows,” said Min Gyeong-jun, director general of Content Production Headquarters at VSPN Korea. “We hope to see the VSPN Arena becoming the best facility of its kind through the extensive experience of CJ OliveNetworks,” Min continued.

The VSPN Arena is scheduled to open this month on the 9th and 10th floor of Lotte FITIN in Jung-gu, Seoul, South Korea.
