[CJ OliveNetworks, October 20, 2021] CJ OliveNetworks (CEO Cha In-hyeok) provided a differentiated experience to participants with its new metaverse platform at the Seoul Smart City Leaders Forum Tuesday.

The Smart City Leaders Forum has been held since 2016 by Seoul city to promote cooperation between the city, businesses, academia, and global cities focusing on core technology of the 4th industrial revolution.

This year, the forum offered several types of sessions including “SSW Insight”, lectures combine innovative solution business use cases and the 4th industrial technologies, and panel discussions on the ICT policies of cities at home and abroad under the theme of “a non-face-to-face society and an accelerated future.”

Son Jong-su, head of the AI-Core Research Center at CJ OliveNetworks, gave a lecture on AI technology-based digital transformation(DT) at SSW Insight.

Son presented some business innovation cases such as predicting the direction of grain purchases using AI analysis modeling based on satellite data, and improving productivity through an AI factory solution that converges new DT technologies such as AI, big data, and block chain.

He also introduced a collaboration program with the Innovation Academy 42 SEOUL, an educational institution that Seoul city established together with the Ministry of Science and ICT in December last year to foster software talent. He also talked about how they are nurturing a talent pool to move the artificial intelligence industry forward.

CJ OliveNetworks provided a new experience to speakers and event participants by applying metaverse technology, which is one of the hottest topics in the IT industry nowadays, to the last discussion of the Seoul Smart City Leaders Forum held at DDP Seoul On Studio on Tuesday.

The metaverse discussion was conducted using the platform developed jointly with Grid, a subsidiary of Eight One, a KOSDAQ listed company.

The conference room and the avatars were created in realistic 3D, and both speakers and participants logged in as avatars in the irrespective spaces, enabling a lively and realistic meeting.

The video of the metaverse discussion supported by CJ OliveNetworks is available on the official YouTube channel of Seoul city.

Meanwhile, CJ OliveNetworks entered into a business operations agreement with Seoul city for the metaverse pilot service in September to help the city's adoption of the metaverse municipal administration.
