CJ OliveNetworks leads the way in “eliminating the gap in youth SW education” with over 13,000 graduates, cumulatively

CJ OliveNetworks announced on the 19th that the total number of students who completed the CJ SW Creativity Camp has exceeded 13,000 as it operates various educational programs to resolve the regional gap in education for teenagers.

 

CJ OliveNetworks is a talent donation program that provides free coding education to youth nationwide based on the its employees’ field of expertise, and this year marks its 10th anniversary.

 

In particular, the CJ SW Creativity Camp is characterized by being operated in a continuous education style for up to 15 weeks in conjunction with the free semester system and after-school classes, rather than a one-time education.

 

Initially, it was operated for middle school students in the metropolitan area, but after COVID-19, it quickly switched to non-face-to-face digital education and expanded the beneficiary areas to resolve the regional gap in education. More than 30 schools have participated so far, including Gyeonggi-do, Chungcheong-do, Jeju-do, Gangwon-do, and Jeolla-do.

 

In addition, CJ OliveNetworks employees are directly participating in the development of a curriculum that reflects IT trends so that students can develop creativity and logical thinking through coding classes and are developing it as a genuine program.

 

CJ SW Creativity Camp is helping students solve social problems in their daily lives through a Python coding course using LEGO so that they can approach coding in a more fun way.

 

The results of the operation of the CJ SW Creativity Camp, which has been ongoing for 10 years, have led to notable achievements its beneficiaries, enhancing the significance of the program.

 

Mokpo Hyein Girls' Middle School students who became interested in coding through the 2022 CJ SW Creativity Camp have been actively participating in SW, AI-related activities in and out of school even after the program ended. They have distinguished themselves in various competitions, such as winning a silver medal at the 2nd Jeollanam-do Student SW Convergence Hackathon and participating in the Software Thinking Olympiad.

 

The CJ SW Creativity Camp will also provide 15 weeks of SW coding education in the second half of the year for middle school students living in Jeju Special Self-Governing Province and Sejong Special Self-Governing City, which are the newly added regions. It plans to introduce a new curriculum utilizing AR, VR, Chat GPT, etc. to help students develop Creativity thinking while experiencing the latest IT technologies.

 

In addition, a new program called SW School Attack is also actively underway, in which employees visit and teach coding classes to teenagers who are excluded from IT education, such as students from multicultural, low-income, and immigrant families.
