- Participants made sowing robots for forestry restoration with Lego Python coding and enhanced understanding about ESG while learning AI ethics.

- ‘CJ SW Creativity Camp,’ a social contribution program, introduced a new curriculum for coding education with the theme of ESG

- Participants made robot models that can help solving social problems through AI and Lego Python coding

- The program will operate a systematic 15-week course for 100 students in 5 middle schools in Chungbuk, Jeonnam, and Jeju in the first half of the year

CJ SW Creativity Camp,’ a representative pro bono activity of CJ OliveNetworks (CEO, Cha In Hyok), will introduce coding education into the curriculum with ESG as the theme starting this year to bridge the inter-regional educational gap.

CJ SW Creative Camp is a talent donation program that supports software coding education for middle and high school students based on the work expertise of CJ OliveNetworks executives and employees and is expanding its programs to regions such as Gangwon, Chungcheong, Jeolla, and Jeju.

The ‘ESG Curriculum’ newly introduced by CJ OliveNetworks this year is a class in which students directly make and practice robot models that can solve social problems with AI and LEGO Python coding. And it helps students participating in the program to understand ESG and experience solving social problems with IT technology.

The ESG coding education program consists of a class where students make ▲a plogging cleaning robot, ▲a forestry restoration seeding robot, ▲a mosquito repelling sound spray, ▲a remote pump, and ▲a smart water transportation robot with a Lego model and operate them through coding and ‘AI Ethical Principles’ classes where students discuss and think about social responsibilities of the AI technology in AI use cases in everyday life together.

In addition to this, it plans to support the program by providing the current CJ SW Creativity Camp courses such as the STEAM that makes use of various digital teaching aids such as Legos, sensors, and motors; basic Python course; and AI machine learning.

CJ OliveNetworks will expand its activities to the Chungcheong region this year and hold classes for students at Jecheon Middle School in North Chungcheong Province. In addition, classes will be conducted systematically for a total of 15 weeks until July for 100 students from 5 middle schools in Jeju, Jeonnam, and Chungbuk, including Jeju Sinchang Middle School, Jeju Ara Middle School, and Mokpo Younghwa Middle School in connection with the free school year system and after-school classes.

“Even during the last COVID-19 situation, the CJ SW Creativity Camp has continuously strived to bridge the regional education gap by conducting online-offline hybrid education, implementing open innovation programs, and participating in science and technology fairs,” said Baek Jae-min, Manager of the Management Support Team at CJ OliveNetworks. We will continue to diversify and advance the CJ SW Creative Camp program by introducing a curriculum with ESG as the theme so that participating students can become more interested in solving environmental and social problems with IT technology.”
